Philine Queers the Oyster
Philine presented some of her oyster research online at the Queer Food conference, which physically took place at McGill University in Montréal. From the naturally queer oyster body to erotic symbolism in art and literature to conceptions of queer food ecology, the oyster is a queer matter and, thus, a queer food. Philine was happy to be part of a conference that investigated the question of what makes food queer and was inspired by the varied and creative program, though she unfortunately missed out on the delicious catering.
